Pandan leaves

Pandan leaves and paste -

Pandan leaves (bought frozen) and Pandan Paste.

Definition: Pandan (Pandanus screwpine) is a type of plant that grows in tropical regions of Asia. Pandanus leaves have a unique taste, sweet commmonly used in the countries of Southeast Asia to improve both desserts and savory dishes. The leaves are long and bright green, and as crushed or ground and has a sweet taste and aroma of many Thai desserts and drinks.

Where to buy Pandan: pandanus leaves can be purchased at your local Asian grocery store and buy fresh or, more likely, frozen (purchased shown in the photo frozen).

Pandan also comes in a ready to use paste - you will find grocery stores in Asia (see photo). One bottle lasts a long time, because the mass is concentrated.

Use Pandan leaves: a paste made of pandanus leaves which can then be used for a variety of recipes, cut the leaves into 1-inch pieces and in a pot on the stove with 1/2 cup of water cut (as many parts as needed). Cook until the leaves are soft (some of the water evaporates) and for water treatment and leaves together in a food processor to make a paste.

Another use of Pandan leaves: Place a few leaves on top of each other and tie a knot to hold them together. Add in a rice cooker, add a delicate flavor, your pandan rice.

Pandan has a special flavor that goes perfectly with coconut milk - nothing alike!
